Professor Von Ziflin had a laboratory in San Francisco. There he had placed a recently discovered dinosaur egg in a specially built incubation chamber. He had already come to the conclusion that the dinosaur inside the egg was a brontosaurus.
Haunter stole the egg while Jessica Wray and her newsteam were interviewing the professor but the Ghostbusters managed to retrieve it. Afterwards, Von Ziflin announced that the egg would be hatching within the hour and admitted that he had no idea what to feed the baby nor how to raise it properly. He then wondered if there was only some way to take the egg back in time.
So, the Ghostbusters used the time turbo in Ghost Buggy to take the egg back to prehistoric San Francisco just in time before it hatched.
Some time later, Jessica Wray held another live interview with the Professor from Mount Moosejaw Observatory. Von Ziflin told her about the Radio Spectrum Voltage Pacifier, or R.S.V.P. for short. It's purpose was to broadcast a message of greetings to inhabitants of faraway galaxies. Von Ziflin calculated that it would take centuries for the aliens to receive this message. His calculations turned out to be right. A trio of Aliens who had received the message finally visited the Earth in the year 2340.
Later still, the professor located the Temple of the Diamond of Gloom in a hidden jungle. This was where temple where the cursed Diamond of Gloom was kept save. Before grabbing the diamond, he stopped to read a prophesy, which said that if the Diamond was not present at the Temple during the full moon, the entire world would be cursed.
Haunter had followed the professor and stole the Diamond of Gloom for himself. The professor immediately attempted to contact the Ghostbusters, but Ansabone kept hanging up on him. Growing exasperated during his third try, the concluded that he did not have to explain his plight by phone as it would take him a shorter time to arrive at Hauntquarters by helicopter.
It took great effort on the part of the Ghostbusters, the Professor and Jessica Wray to return the cursed diamond in time. In the end, it was a small monkey nicknamed Tracy Jr. who actually put the diamond back in it's place, just in time before the full moon set, thereby saving the entire world.
